Mègwa Ókpaigèbèèè (Onu Okenya) Uuudèèèèè!!!! CHIEF ALI EBUNE (Ali Egwu) was officially beaded as: The Ókpaigèbè (Onu Okenya) on the 28th February, 2025. Congratulations to my foster father, a man of timber and calibre, a man of the people and a natural born leader. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF THE TITLE: The first Ókpaigèbè is a maternal uncle to Ata Ayegba òma Idoko. He is from Enugu-Ezike. Enugu-Ezike is the home of the mother of Ata Ayegba òma Idoko. When Ata Ayegba òma Idoko was chosen to become the Ata-Igala, he reached out to his uncle, who came with a group of able-bodied men to provide security for his Nephew throughout his Coronation rite as he ascended the throne of Ata-Igala. On completion of his assignment, he wanted to return to Enugu-Ezike, but Ata Ayegba òma Idoko begged him to stay back and allocated a massive land which he named Okenya (Òkò ènya Iye mi), meaning "the farm of my mother's breast). The land of Okenya is the host of Federal Polytechnic, Idah. The title of Ókpaigèbè has been passed from generation to generation of the descendants of the man Ókpaigèbè from Enugu-Ezike. The Ókpaigèbè and his people have maintained their roles of building tents and providing security for the Ata-Igala during Ocho festivals and other traditional festivals.
