🤌👀 Former Tether Executive Launches New Stablecoin Project
Co-founder and former Tether executive Reeve Collins has announced the launch of Pi Protocol, a new stablecoin project featuring the USP token, set to debut on Ethereum and Solana in the second half of 2025. According to Collins, Tether has demonstrated strong demand for stablecoins but does not share its profits, whereas Pi Protocol aims to distribute revenue among users. 🔥
USP will be backed by real-world yield-bearing assets (RWA), such as bonds, money market funds, and tokenized insurance products, reducing risk. To ensure system stability, an automated smart contract system has been developed to assess asset value. In addition to USP, two more tokens will be introduced: USI (for rewards) and USPi (for governance), with USPi holders entitled to a share of the profits. 📈
The project team and advisors will receive 25% of USPi’s supply, and the pre-sale is already underway. Pi Protocol's development comes amid discussions on stablecoin regulation in the U.S. Congress, which could impact the future of such initiatives. ⚖️
