In response, the _Minister of State for Primary Education, Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu,_ responded as follows:
1. Thanked Parliament for approving the new curriculum.
2. Recounted that this is a competency-based curriculum.
3. Recounted that Uganda has moved away from the traditional grading system to a system about the level of competence a learner gets over the years.
Continuous assessment – *20 percent and 80 percent summative grading.*
4. New grading has been introduced with different codes with the following connotations:
*Result 1* – Qualifies to get a certificate.
*Result 2* – Does not meet the minimum requirement for a certificate, i.e., maybe no project work, did less than 9 subjects.
*Result 3* – Did not meet the minimum level of achievement in these subjects.
