Tens of thousands of people have gathered in Beirut for the funeral of Hezbollah’s former leader, Hassan Nasrallah, in what is believed to be Lebanon’s largest funeral in two decades. Nasrallah, 64, was killed five months ago when Israel’s air force bombed Hezbollah’s main operations room, dropping over 80 bombs in what was considered a major blow to the Iran-backed group. Nasrallah was a founding member of Hezbollah and led the group for over 30 years. High-ranking officials from across the region, including Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, are in attendance at Beirut’s main sports stadium, where the funeral is taking place.
