Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu announced that India will need at least 20,000 additional pilots in the coming years due to rising demand in the aviation sector.
With Indian airlines ordering approximately 1,700 new aircraft, industry growth is expected to continue. As of January 2025, India has around 11,745 pilots, and by 2029, the required number will reach 22,400.
Naidu also revealed that 50 new airports would be added under the UDAN Scheme over the next five years.
