🔥 Our working students are experimenting! 🔥
Our working students wanted to find out about the colour change when metals are heated. As so often, the secret lies in chemistry! 🧪 When heated, a thin oxide layer forms on the metal, which reflects light in fascinating colours. This effect is called light interference and ensures that different colours become visible depending on the temperature:
🔸 Red/brown: First oxide layer.
🔹 Blue/violet: Medium temperatures.
🔸 Yellow/green: Higher temperatures.
Heat, cool, heat again - and the play of colours changes again and again. Science and art combined! 🎨
