Where does India stand in its fight against Neglected Tropical Diseases?
India bears the world’s highest burden of at least 11 Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs)—including dengue, leprosy, kala-azar, and lymphatic filariasis.
✅ Successes: India eradicated trachoma, yaws, and guinea worm.
⚠️ Challenges: Dengue cases nearly doubled in 4 years, kala-azar persists, and LF elimination targets have been pushed to 2027.
🌍 Climate change is worsening the spread of vector-borne diseases, making elimination even harder. Can India meet its 2030 NTD targets?
