TAHAJJUD! Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said Abu Nu'aym the author of Hilyah al-Awliya' said in his 'Aqeedah: Allah is the All-Hearing, All-Seeing, All-Knowing and All-Aware. He speaks, He can be pleased, He can get angry, He laughs, He wonders and He will appear to His servants on the day of Judgement laughing. He descends every night to the lowest heaven however He wills, then says: Is there anyone who supplicates so that I may respond to him? Is there anyone seeking forgiveness so that I may forgive him? Is there anyone seeking repentance so that I may accept his repentance? Until Fajr comes. And the descending of the Lord to the lowest heaven is without [asking] how, nor likening [it to the creation], nor misinterpreting it. So whoever rejects the descending or misinterprets [its meaning], then he is a misguided innovator, and the rest of the major Scholars are upon this. [Al-Ijtima' al-Juyûsh al-Islâmiyyah]
