And the reason it's buzzing is:
_FRANCHISE_
Nigerian-American Tomi Adeyemi's debut novel _Children of Blood and Bone_ (2018) film adaptation is now official. Inspired by West African mythology/ culture, _Harry Potter, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Hunger Games,_ and the Black Lives Matter movement, it is the first in her Legacy of Orïsha trilogy. The story follows Zélie Adebola's quest to restore magic to Orïsha. While the Afrodiaspora is excited about its diverse representative potential, Hollywood embraces such IP to create a potential 'black' franchise like the MCU, to reduce creative risks, and expand it's new market (Africans). Originally picked up by Disney and Lucasfilm, this trilogy is now with Paramount, known for _Mission Impossible_ and _Transformers._ Filming begins in South Africa this year, with a cast including Thuso Mbedu, Amandla Stenberg, Damson Idris, Cynthia Erivo, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Lashana Lynch, Idris Elba, and Viola Davis.
