The West produces more documentaries about Africa than any other genre, including action, comedy, or horror films. Documentaries are associated with truth, making it easier to present agendas as facts. However, local documentarians who live among us can tell stories that explore our realities. MUD interviewed award-winning documentarian RUMBI KATEDZA who has worked with Oprah Winfrey, Apple TV, Al Jazeera, AfriDocs, and the Nelson Mandela Foundation. She told us, "Zimbabwe is a traumatised nation, and as a filmmaker, I tell stories to help us learn from each other and heal."
