Meet James Maitai, our Chief Technology and Information Officer (CTIO), who is the driving force behind Safaricom's technological advancements in Kenya and Safaricom Telecommunications Ethiopia PLC! Since joining us in 2006 as an engineer, James has consistently risen through the ranks, showcasing his dedication and expertise. His journey has taken him from engineering to commercial roles, overseeing sales and technology in Mount Kenya, Nairobi, and Mombasa. In 2019, he returned to technology as acting CTO and later assumed the CTIO role for Ethiopia in 2023. James's passion for technology stems from a strong academic background and a natural curiosity for "fixing things." While law was a consideration, engineering ultimately won him over, inspired by his brother's aspirations.
