Deputy Minister Manamela to Engage Limpopo Institutions on Student Funding, Infrastructure, and Skills Development
Limpopo, 26 February 2025 – Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Buti Manamela, will conduct a series of engagements with higher education institutions and stakeholders in Limpopo to assess institutional readiness for the 2025 academic year, student funding issues, and skills development initiatives.
The Deputy Minister will visit the University of Limpopo, Capricorn TVET College, and Mapeloana Community Learning Centre, where he will meet with institutional leadership, student representatives, and key stakeholders to discuss:
• NSFAS funding challenges, including outstanding appeals and private accommodation concerns.
• Student housing shortages and infrastructure development.
• The role of TVET colleges in industry-aligned skills training and graduate employability.
• Strengthening pathways for Community Learning Centre students to transition into further education or employment.
The visit is part of the ongoing oversight work to ensure that students across universities, TVET colleges, and CET centres are supported through efficient funding, improved infrastructure, and aligned training programs that respond to economic needs.
