Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) are organizations in South Africa responsible for managing and implementing the National Skills Development Strategy (NSDS) within specific economic sectors. The main goals of SETAs are: 1. To address skills shortages and gaps in specific sectors. 2. To improve the quality and relevance of training programs. 3. To increase access to education and training opportunities. 4. To promote skills development and lifelong learning. SETAs achieve these goals by: 1. Identifying sector skills needs. 2. Developing and implementing sector skills plans. 3. Allocating funds for training and development. 4. Monitoring and evaluating training programs. 5. Providing support for learnerships, apprenticeships, and other training initiatives. There are 21 SETAs in South Africa, each focusing on a specific economic sector: 1. Agriculture Sector Education and Training Authority (AgriSETA) 2. Banking Sector Education and Training Authority (BANKSETA) 3. Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) 4. Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) 5. Education, Training and Development Practices Sector Education and Training Authority (ETDP SETA) 6. Energy and Water Sector Education and Training Authority (EWSETA) 7. Financial and Accounting Services Sector Education and Training Authority (FASSET) 8. Food and Beverages Manufacturing Industry Sector Education and Training Authority (FOODBEV) 9. Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority (HWSETA) 10. Information Systems, Electronics and Telecommunications Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority (ISETT SETA) 11. Insurance Sector Education and Training Authority (INSETA) 12. Local Government Sector Education and Training Authority (LGSETA) 13. Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (MERSETA) 14. Media, Information and Communication Technologies Sector Education and Training Authority (MICT SETA) 15. Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA) 16. Public Service Sector Education and Training Authority (PSETA) 17. Safety and Security Sector Education and Training Authority (SASSETA) 18. Services Sector Education and Training Authority (SSETA) 19. Transport Education and Training Authority (TETA) 20. Wholesale and Retail Sector Education and Training Authority (W&RSETA) 21.
