North Korean Lazarus Group launches "QinShihuang" a meme coin: Lazarus launched a meme coin called QinShihuang on Pump Fun to launder $26 million stolen from Bybit. They sent 60 SOL tokens to mint 500,000 QinShihuang tokens, which traded heavily—reaching a $26M volume in about three hours. $1.08 million USDC from an Ethereum wallet that bridged funds to Solana was traced The stolen funds were moved to Binance Smart Chain and split across over 30 different addresses. The funds were then recombined into one wallet and split again into 10 new wallets before being bridged back to Solana. Lazarus also swapped small "dust" meme coin transactions into SOL on Pump Fun to further mix the funds In total, about 920 wallets were used in this laundering operation. By cycling funds across Ethereum, Solana, and Binance Smart Chain, and repeatedly splitting and merging transactions, Lazarus made tracking the stolen money very difficult. This method is part of a repeated strategy, showing their sophisticated approach to money laundering.
