One of the rare guns in the collection we acquired is a WWI Austrian M.07/12 machine gun. It is one the 900 pieces acquired by Romania after WWI from Austria-Hungary as part of war reparations. These machine guns were originally chambered for the 8mm cartridge. To standardize ammunition with other Romanian service rifles, many of these Schwarzlose machine guns were later converted to the 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge. The barrel and water jacket were also lengthened. During World War II, they were primarily issued to the 1st Army, 4th Army, and aerial defense units.
