Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas produced from the burning of substances such as charcoal, gas, gasoline, oil, or wood.
When inhaled, carbon monoxide reduces the body’s ability to carry oxygen to vital organs. More than 400 people in the US die each year from unintentional carbon monoxide poisoning not associated with fires.
