📢 Important Changes to Employment Rights in the Isle of Man – Effective 1 April 2025 📢
Updates are coming to employment legislation under the Employment Act 2006. Here’s what’s changing:
✅ Family Rights:
• Time off for partners to attend antenatal appointments 👶
• Time off for adoption-related appointments 🏠
• Time off to care for dependants ❤️
✅ Worker Protections:
• Written statements of employment particulars must now be provided from day one of employment 📝
✅ Whistleblowing Improvements:
• Introduction of a public interest test for disclosures
• Removal of the “good faith” requirement for disclosures
• Protections extended through vicarious liability and interim relief
These updates reflect feedback from public consultations and aim to make the Isle of Man a fairer, more attractive place to live and work.
