The beloved romance A Walk to Remember—which launched Mandy Moore’s career and made fans swoon over Shane West—is getting a reboot. According to Deadline (February 27), Monarch Media has secured the rights to Nicholas Sparks’ novel and is developing a new adaptation with original producers Denise Di Novi and Hunt Lowry. The A Walk to Remember reboot is moving forward with producers Steve Barnett, Alan Powell, and Vicky Patel from Monarch Media, along with Denise Di Novi and Margaret French-Isaac from Di Novi Pictures and Hunt Lowry and Patty Reed from Roserock Films. “We could not be more excited to bring a new version of Nicholas Sparks’ timeless story to audiences,” Barnett told Deadline, calling the film a “beloved coming-of-age drama.” Di Novi added, “I am so grateful to bring this enduring story of faith, hope, and love to a new generation.” Producer Hunt Lowry expressed his excitement about revisiting A Walk to Remember, saying he’s “delighted” to bring the beloved story to a new generation and reunite with Denise Di Novi after more than 20 years. The 2002 film followed the romance between devout teen Jamie Sullivan (Mandy Moore) and rebellious Landon Carter (Shane West), whose love story takes a heartbreaking turn when Jamie’s battle with leukemia is revealed.
