Today marks the forty-fourth birthday of former South African captain Graeme Craig Smith, better known as Graeme Smith. He was born on February 1, 1982, in Johannesburg South Africa.

Spouse: Smith was first married to Irish singer Morgan Deane in 2011, with whom he had two children. After four years of marriage, they separated in 2015 due to unknown reasons. He later married his long-time girlfriend, Romy Falranchi, with whom he also has a son.
Graeme Smith became the 288th South African to represent South Africa in Tests. He made his Test debut on March 8, 2002, against Australia. Smith played 117 Tests for South Africa, scoring 9,265 runs. He also played 197 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) for South Africa, scoring 6,989 runs, and 33 T20Is, scoring 982 runs.
A decent and part-time off-spinner, Smith took eight wickets in his 117 Tests and 18 wickets in his 197 ODIs.
At 22, Smith became the youngest captain in South African cricket history when he took over from Shaun Pollock in 2003. He held the position as Test captain until his retirement and is the most successful Test captain in South African history, captaining the team in 109 matches and winning 53.
In one of his interviews, Smith stated that he still had two to three years of cricket left in him, but he had no choice due to his daughter's illness. He retired in 2014.
