Salary: N100,000 - N200,000
Job Overview:
A Coding Home Tutor for Kids is responsible for teaching programming and computational thinking to children in a personalized, engaging, and age-appropriate manner. The tutor provides one-on-one or small-group instruction at the student’s home, helping them develop problem-solving skills, logical thinking, and creativity through coding.
Key Responsibilities:
∙Lesson Planning: Design customized lesson plans based on the child’s age, learning level, and interests.
∙Teaching Coding Concepts: Introduce fundamental coding concepts (e.g., loops, conditionals, variables, and functions) in an easy-to-understand manner.
∙Using Kid-Friendly Tools: Teach coding using platforms like Scratch, Blockly, Python (for beginners), or robotics kits (e.g., LEGO Mindstorms, Arduino).
∙Interactive Learning: Incorporate games, puzzles, and hands-on projects to make learning fun and engaging.
∙Project-Based Learning: Guide kids in creating their own small coding projects, such as simple games, animations, or websites.
∙Progress Tracking: Monitor the child’s progress, provide feedback, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
∙Encouraging Creativity: Foster problem-solving, creativity, and logical thinking through coding challenges.
∙Parental Communication: Update parents on their child’s progress and suggest additional resources for practice.
Qualifications & Skills:
∙Proficiency in kid-friendly coding languages (Scratch, Python, Blockly, JavaScript basics, etc.).
∙Experience working with children, preferably in teaching or tutoring.
∙Strong communication and patience to explain concepts in a simple and engaging way.
∙Ability to customize lessons to fit different learning styles and paces.
∙Passion for technology, coding, and education.
Preferred Qualifications:
∙Background in Computer Science, Education, or a related field.
∙Experience with STEM education or robotics. ∙Familiarity with online coding platforms like Code.org, Tynker, or MIT App Inventor.
