Also it should be known that the Gracies never trained under Maeda, but it was a master student Pires, and Pires was one of the cery first Brazilians to open a Jiu-Jitsu Academy in Rio de Janeiro. The story is much more large then it was told in the 90s by the Gracies to promote „their“ Jiu-Jitsu. Hélio Gracie was the „master-mind“ of GJJ, but people like Pedro Hemetério have strongly contributed to Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil. —Franco Vacirca
