A Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard (TTCG) officer is missing following a search and rescue operation that began in the early hours of Friday morning. Able Seaman (AB) K. Simon was involved in the interception of a suspected semi-submersible vessel carrying a large quantity of drugs. During the operation, AB Simon was assisting in transferring crew members when the vessel's plug was pulled, causing it to sink. He is believed to have been pulled into the sinking vessel. The incident occurred approximately 55km off Trinidad and Tobago waters. The search for AB Simon is ongoing.
