. *#netsnippet | In a bid to address the growing concern of internet addiction among children and youth, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved the establishment of the Centre for Advanced Research on Addictive Behaviours (CAR-AB) at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi.* *The centre, the first of its kind in the country, aims to develop evidence-based interventions targeted at excessive and problematic use of technology, especially among children and youth.* *According to Dr. Yatan Pal Singh Balhara, Faculty in-charge of the Behavioral Addictions Clinic (BAC) at AIIMS, Delhi, the centre will comprehensively address various addictive behaviours, focusing on prevention, screening, early detection, and intervention.* *The centre also plans to develop an AI-based predictive model to detect vulnerability to excessive and problematic use of technology among youth.
