Nigerian Rulers Did Nigerian Children Dirty And These Kids Will Rise Against Them Someday —Sowore
Nigerian human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has criticised the Nigerian government for participating in Children’s Day celebrations despite what he described as the systemic neglect and abandonment of the nation’s children.
Sowore explained that the Nigerian state and its rulers have no moral right to commemorate the day, given their failure to provide adequate care, protection, and opportunities for the country's youth.
Sowore made this statement on Tuesday on the occasion of Children's Day celebration, lamenting that the Nigerian government has failed the nation's children across all fronts — from healthcare and education to social protection.
He warned that the Nigerian state and its rulers must not forget that these children are taking note and, one day, will confront those who mortgaged their future.
"Today is celebrated globally as Children’s Day; lamentably, the Nigerian state and its rulers cannot in good conscience celebrate this day because they have marginalized, decimated, and forsaken the children of Nigeria," Sowore said.
"They've done Nigeria’s children dirty in every ramification, from healthcare to education and social protection."
"They should not forget however that these children are taking note and one day they will confront those who mortgaged their future! #revolutionnow," he added.
