🔺 DIFFERENTIAL DIAGNOSIS OF ARUCHI (LOSS OF APPETITE)
📌 Gastrointestinal Causes
-Chronic gastritis or peptic ulcer disease
-GERD
-Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
-Hepatitis, cirrhosis
-GI malignancy (gastric, pancreatic, colon)
📌 Infectious Causes
-Tuberculosis
-HIV/AIDS
-Hepatitis
-Chronic parasitic infections
📌Endocrine/Metabolic
-Hypothyroidism
-hyperthyroidism
-Diabetes mellitus
-Addison’s disease
-Uremia (chronic kidney disease)
📌 Psychiatric
-Depression (very common)
-Anxiety disorders
-Anorexia nervosa or other eating disorders
-Substance abuse (alcohol, cannabis withdrawal)
🔺SAMPRAPTI (PATHOGENESIS)
-Due to Nidana sevanam, Doshas (especially Kapha) become vitiated
-Disturbance in Agni (digestive fire)
-Impaired Rasa Dhatu formation
-Vitiated Doshas localize in the Amashaya (stomach) and interfere with Jatharagni, leading to loss of appetite
-In Manasika Aruchi, Rajas and Tamas disturb the Satva, leading to psychological aversion to food.

-Use of Tikta (bitter) and Katu (pungent) substances
