We often think, “I act,” “They caused this,” or “I am responsible.”
But in Gita 5.14, Krishna invites us to go deeper. The Self—the real ‘I’—does not act or cause action. It merely witnesses. All actions arise from nature (prakriti), through the body, senses, and mind. Our ego wrongly claims doer-ship, creating bondage and stress. This verse gently detaches us from that illusion. When we realize that the Self is untouched by action, we become freer, calmer, and more aligned with truth.
