Clarification: there is a difference of opinion regarding moon sightings and the Day of ‘Arafah — specifically, whether we should follow Saudi Arabia’s declaration or our own local moon sighting for fasting. When it comes to occasions like Ramadān and Eid, it is almost unanimously agreed upon by scholars that we should follow the local moon sighting of our own country. However, ‘Arafah is unique. The key point to note is that the Day of ‘Arafah is tied to a specific location — the plain of ‘Arafah in Saudi Arabia, where the pilgrims stand. The Prophet ﷺ instructed us to fast on the Day of ‘Arafah, not merely the day before Eid. So focus should be on this specific day &place. Okay, let's end this back and forth. Here's a simple and safe approach: fast for two days ✅ Fast Thursday (tomorrow) – as it is the Day of ‘Arafah in Saudi Arabia ✅ Fast Friday – if Eid in your country (like in Indian subcontinent) falls on Saturday Al-Hasan Al-Basri “Fasting one day from the ten (days) is equal to fasting two months.” (Al-Dur Al-Manthur (8/501) This is the safest and most rewarding approach, & to avoid unnecessary disputes. Wallāhu a‘lam (Note: its not a fatwa just a suggestion, Since scholars differ on the matter, you can follow whichever opinion of ulema has strong evidence & arguments that you trust) And if you are unable to fast for two days, or things are complicated in ur place then simply follow your local moon sighting and fast on the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah according to your local calendar, whenever it occurs. As said by Shaykh saleh al fawzan. Of course, if your country's moon sighting aligns (Or close to) with Saudi Arabia, then there is no issue you simply follow that. In'ShaAllah. *Remember fasting on the Day of Arafah — It expiates (erase) for sins of the past and coming years (2years)*
