On the 9th of Dhul Hijjah, while the men head to Mount Arafat for the pivotal Hajj ritual, the women, children, & elderly of Makkah go to Masjid al-Haram to perform tawaf and other acts of worship.
This beautiful annual tradition is known as Yawm al-Khaleef — A day that reflects the deep devotion of the people of Makkah, who ensure that the Haram remains filled with worship and not left empty while millions of pilgrims are gathered at Mount Arafat.
