𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝘀𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗸𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗻 The Drakenstein community woke up this morning to the sad news that one of Wellington’s great sons, former Springbok rugby player Cornal Hendricks, passed on last night. Drakenstein Municipality wants to extend our deepest condolences to Cornal’s family members, the rugby fraternity, his friends and his colleagues at the Cornal Hendricks Foundation. Cornal was 37 years old. According to media reports, the popular wing/centre passed on after suffering a heart attack at home and he was rushed to a Paarl hospital. He was still playing for the Wellington-based Boland Cavaliers this season in the SA Cup competition, helping them to qualify for this year’s Currie Cup competition. Cornal was diagnosed with a heart condition at the age of 27, just after signing a contract with the Cape Town-based Stormers. That put a temporary halt to his career.
