The US intel community is setting up a “one-stop shop” to buy your personal data from brokers, think location, beliefs, habits? all without a warrant. The “Intelligence Community Data Consortium” will use AI to mine this info. Congress tried to block it. The Senate said no.
2. Signal Fights Back Against Microsoft Recall
Signal is blocking Windows’ new “Recall” feature, which saves constant screenshots. Signal says Recall kills privacy and found a clever way to block it using Windows’ own rights protection tools.
3. Major Malware Busts
Authorities disrupted Lumma, an infostealer malware stealing passwords, crypto, and bank details. Microsoft helped take down over 2,300 sites.
4. Spanish Hackers Exposed
A mysterious hacker group called Careto was secretly working for the Spanish government, spying on Cuba, energy firms, and political activists.
5. Russia’s Fancy Bear Hacks Aid to Ukraine
Russian military hackers targeted over 10,000 border security cameras and rail logistics tied to Ukrainian aid. It’s espionage with a side of potential sabotage.
6. $24 Million Malware Developer Indicted
A Russian national behind Qakbot used by ransomware gangs like REvil and Black Basta was charged. Authorities seized over $24 million.
7. 184 Million Records Leaked
A massive 47 GB database with data from Amazon, Apple, Google, Netflix, and more was exposed. Researchers took it down, but the breach reveals just how much of our digital lives are out there.
