Tesla has installed a new Semi Megacharger at its Giga Texas facility, marking the first Megacharger at a Tesla site beyond Giga Nevada, where the Semi trucks are manufactured. This charger is located near the outbound car lot and features a single stall designed for "bobtail" charging, which suits trucks without trailers, differing from the multi-stall, pull-through design at Giga Nevada tailored for long-haul trucking. The installation reflects Tesla's strategy to optimize charging setups based on operational needs, with bobtail charging ideal for trucks domiciled at the site. This addition is part of Tesla's broader plan to expand its Megacharger network, aiming to deploy 46 public stations by early 2027 to support long-haul electric trucking across North America, primarily along major freight corridors in the southern U.S. The Giga Texas Megacharger complements Tesla's ongoing efforts to ramp up Semi production, with volume production expected in 2026.
