Hold Fast (Cling) Deuteronomy 13:4 NKJV — “You shall walk after the LORD your God and fear Him, and keep His commandments and obey His voice; you shall serve Him and hold fast to Him. Lord, we were far from you, but you bought us with your blood. This is priceless. I want to thank you for such profound favour. Jesus, help me understand the hidden truth in your word. In your name, Jesus, I want to rebuke any spirit of heresy from the devotions. Give us pure, undiluted, unadulterated and sound word that gives life. Word that transforms and not that lead people astray. I pray in Jesus's name, amen. Either your follow Jesus, or stay and die. If you go back to Exodus 20:3 — “You must not have any other god but me. (NLT). Listen brethren, do a soul check. Don't you have a god or gods that you have and you are worshipping. There is no need to lie, God sees everything. The easiest why to check, is by answering this question, are you free to worship or kneel before that god (idol) in public? Answer me. The problem is that, when you worship that god, you then come and join others who are innocent and spoil the atmosphere. Remember the story of Achan who caused the nation to be humbled by the small Ai. If there is a sin that drains away our connection to the presence of God is, idol worshipping. Idol worshipping does not drain God's power, no, because God does not change. Idol worshipping weakens you. It removes you from the presence of God, and cuts your relationship with him. Idol worshipping cuts the umbilical (rukuvhute) cord that brings spiritual food into your soul. The moment you hold on and hide those tools you use to worship idols, you would have cut the umbilical cord, and it is somewhere drying up or rotting. Today, in the name of Jesus, may a fresh umbilical cord be connected to your soul. How can God answer your prayers? No wonder we are failing to defeat sin. Be serious with your life. What you sow today forms the foundation that your generations after you will follow. Do you know that you are going to be an ancestor to your grandchildren? What are you leaving behind for them to take? OMG, may the Holy Spirit help me to plant fruit trees that my grandchildren can point at without shame when I am long gone. Verse 3 has six firepoints that can help you and I to have a lifelong lasting relationship with God. (i) You shall walk after the LORD, your God. Why walk after and not with? You need to see the direction. (ii) fear Him. When I was growing up, my elder brother was a disciplinarian. Misbehaviour was foreign to me. Yet it helped shape me. Fear the Lord your God, it is for your benefit. It shapes your life. (iii) keep His commandments. When he says, love, stop asking, why. When he says, don't go there. In your mind you are like, but everyone else is there. (iv) obey His voice. Yaba- hey, Adam where are you? Why is God's voice not reaching you? (v) you shall serve Him. Serving God is doing what he has assigned you to do. If he hasn't send you, why are you going? Does it mean you know better than Him? Whenever he sends you, he empowers you. I have no shopping list for you to tick from. Listen to Him, he knows what he wants and also your capacity to do what he wants. (vi) hold fast to Him. You need to cling (kunamira) to Him. Come rain, come sunshine, I will remain clinging to Him. As long as you are hiding those gods, defeat will be your portion.
