*Beyond Apologies: What Buganda Truly Needs from President Museveni* I will keep bringing you more insights on Strategy as usual. So, today, Let us talk about President Museveni's recent apology to the *"People of Uganda especially the People of Buganda"* (as he was quoted saying) For those that do not know, President Yoweri Museveni recently apologized to the Baganda—for his own missteps and those of his agents. This was a rare public moment of political humility. But for many in Buganda, the words, however seemingly heartfelt, fall far short of what is truly needed. Apologies without corresponding action become empty rituals, especially when history is marked by unfulfilled promises, systemic neglect, and subtle yet persistent tribal marginalization. *The Baganda are not seeking sentiments—they are seeking substance.* For decades, they have heard pledges about federalism, land reforms, development equity, and the return of lost assets. And yet, these promises echo in speeches and manifestos, rarely in the tangible improvement of lives. *Buganda does not need more words. It needs the reversal of policies and decisions* that have quietly eroded its autonomy, voice, and trust in the state. President Museveni must show that tribalism is not just condemned rhetorically but dismantled practically. He must demonstrate that Buganda matters not only during election cycles but also in the long, quiet seasons in between. The region wants to see a genuine redistribution of political will—an investment in local governance, in cultural respect, in economic empowerment, and in listening to leaders beyond the familiar political inner circle. Moreover, *if President Museveni is to win Buganda again, a better strategy is overdue.* Buganda has evolved. Its youth are politically alert, socially active, and demand more than historical nostalgia and symbolic gestures. What’s needed is a team around the President that understands the pulse of modern Buganda—innovators, reformers, and bridge-builders, not sycophants and gatekeepers. *No amount of prayers or apologies will change Buganda’s stance unless real remedies are put in motion.* Action is the only true apology. A reset is possible—but only with courage, humility, and a willingness to match words with transformative change. Otherwise, *history may record the apology, but not remember it.* Okay, bye!
