*Vybz Kartel persona non grata? Dancehall under pressure in Trinidad & Tobago*
In Trinidad & Tobago, Prime Minister _Keith Rowley_ confirmed that *his government was behind the decision to restrict the public and educational broadcasting of content related to Vybz Kartel*. _“I won’t let him talk to our children,”_ he stated, expressing concern about *the moral impact of Dancehall music on the youth*.
This move comes as controversy grows across the region. In Guyana 🇬🇾, the _Ethnic Relations Commission_ labeled the song _"Good Like Jesus"_ as *blasphemous*, calling for it to be banned due to *its perceived offense to Christian beliefs*.
Responding *diplomatically*, Vybz Kartel said he *had no issue with the decision*, and reminded the public that he *hasn’t performed in front of a Trinidadian audience in over 15 years*.
*This climate of censorship raises a key question: can Dancehall still be subversive without clashing with the values of Caribbean societies?*
