From Gangtok’s narrow lanes to America’s Got Talent, Girish and The Chronicles have made history as the first Indian rock band to hit the AGT stage. On June 3, this hard rock group from Sikkim lit up the stage with a blazing cover of Adele’s “Set Fire to the Rain,” earning a rare standing ovation and unanimous “yes” from all four judges, including Simon Cowell and Mel B. Formed in 2009 by brothers Girish and Yogesh Pradhan, alongside Suraz Karki and Nagen Mongrati, they started in Gangtok’s underground scene, inspired by ’80s rock legends like Dio and Guns N’ Roses. Chasing bigger dreams, they moved to Bengaluru, India’s rock capital, and went on to release acclaimed albums like Back to Earth, Rock the Highway, and Hail to the Heroes. With their powerful sound, they built a cult following, rocked European festivals, and opened for international acts like Poets of the Fall and Alter Bridge. Their AGT breakthrough is more than a milestone — it’s a bold statement: Indian rock is ready to roar on the global stage. #girishandthechronicles #americasgottalent #indianrockband #sikkim #bengaluru [Girish and The Chronicles, America’s Got Talent, Indian rock band, Sikkim, Bengaluru, Music]
