Yesterday, I declared the Regional Workshop on Maritime Border Security open in Lagos. This event, organized by Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) in collaboration with the UN Counter-Terrorism office, brings together key stakeholders to design strategic plans to tackle terrorism, unrest, and organized crimes in the Gulf of Guinea. As a nation situated between the Sahel and the Gulf of Guinea, Nigeria's unique geography demands innovative solutions to address these challenges. The event saw the participation of distinguished leaders, including His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr Tayo Ayinde; His Excellency, Former Governor of Edo State, and Chairman Senate Committee on Interior, Sen. Adams Oshiomhole; Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Interior, Hon. Abdullahi Aliyu Ahmed; IGP Kayode Egbetokun; and CG Customs Adewale Adeniyi, among others. As agents of RenewedHope under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), we believe —together — we can strengthen regional cooperation and develop effective strategies to secure our maritime borders and promote peace and stability in the region.
