Tafadzwa Mandiwanza made history as Ireland's first female paediatric neurosurgeon. Mandiwanza, who grew up in Zimbabwe with a passion for medicine, says that while her field is tough, she loves working with children and finds them more resilient than adults.
As a female surgeon in a male-dominated field, Mandiwanza says that women are more empathetic and less "God-like" than their male counterparts. Despite the challenges and discrimination faced by female surgeons around the world, Mandiwanza has not experienced such treatment in her capacity as a consultant.
