Who Can Apply Researchers of non-Japanese nationality Must hold a PhD at the time of application Born in or after 1980 (45 years or younger) Proficient in English or Japanese Employed in their home country with a commitment to return after the fellowship Must secure acceptance from a host institution in Japan before applying Eligible Fields Preference is given to natural sciences, engineering, and medicine Fellowship Benefits Monthly stipend of JPY 220,000 Arrival allowance of JPY 120,000 Round-trip economy airfare Medical insurance Participation in a cultural study tour Fellowship Duration Six months between June 2026 and March 2027 Application Period June 1 to June 30, 2025 (Japan Standard Time) How to Apply Applications must be submitted by email in PDF format.
