𝐈𝐂𝐀𝐑-𝐂𝐈𝐅𝐓 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐄𝐜𝐨-𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐲 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐨-𝐍𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐨𝐧 𝗪𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲* In a big step toward sustainable farming and waste-to-wealth innovation, the ICAR-Central Institute of Fisheries Technology (ICAR-CIFT) in Kochi has signed a technology transfer agreement on World Environment Day. The institute has handed over a unique agro-nutrient formulation made from fish waste to Ms. Varalikka Manaksia, a young entrepreneur from Kolkata, and her father Shri Aditya B. Manaksia, a well-known businessman from West Bengal. 𝗪𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭? The innovation is a plant nutrient made from fish waste that helps in: ✅ Seed priming ✅ Stress resistance in crops This eco-friendly product turns fish by-products into valuable nutrition for agriculture, helping both farmers and the environment. 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢-𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 Ms. Varalikka Manaksia is the youngest incubatee at ICAR-CIFT. She is leading this project with full support from her father. Their work shows how India’s youth and families are coming together to drive green entrepreneurship. 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰 @Dr. George Ninan, Director of ICAR-CIFT, said the agreement marks a major milestone for circular economy practices. As part of the deal: ICAR-CIFT will provide full technical support A Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be given to help scale up production This move supports India’s goals in resource efficiency, sustainable agriculture, and the startup ecosystem. 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐚’𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐆𝐨𝐚𝐥𝐬 This technology is part of ICAR-CIFT’s mission to bring lab innovations to land and livelihood. By transforming fish waste into plant food, the institute is promoting both eco-solutions and rural entrepreneurship.
