You’re not just lucky to have a job. They’re also lucky to have you.
Gratitude at work is important. It keeps us grounded, connected, and aware of the bigger picture. But sometimes, especially in a challenging job market, gratitude starts to morph into fear. Fear of rocking the boat. Fear of asking for more. Fear of seeming ungrateful simply for wanting to grow.
When that happens, even high- performing, dedicated professionals can start to minimize their own value.
Let’s not forget: you weren’t hired out of kindness. You were hired because of your skills, your mindset, your experience; because you can solve real problems and contribute in meaningful ways.
It’s okay to appreciate your job and still advocate for yourself. It’s okay to be grateful and want more. Those things aren’t mutually exclusive.
Yes, having a job is something to appreciate, especially now, but don’t lose sight of the fact that your company is fortunate to have you, too.
