During the past month of Ramadan (which ran throughout March), Wikimedia Malaysia held a series of events called WikiSungkai, made up of workshops and meetups with local organisations and individuals. WikiSungkai combines the word "wiki" with "sungkai", a local term that means breaking fast. The aim of WikiSungkai is to grow content on Wikipedia and Wiktionary, and to introduce the Wikimedia movement to potential partners. Each session usually ends with a sungkai (breaking fast) together. This year, WikiSungkai successfully ran four Wikipedia workshops (3 Malay and 1 Kadazandusun), two Wiktionary workshops (with Kadazan and Suluk communities), and two engagement sessions to introduce Wikimedia. A big thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s WikiSungkai a success! We’re looking forward to even more collaborations in the future. Note: The Malay Wikipedia workshops were also held to boost participation to the WikiLovesRamadan campaign, which ran by the global community from February to April.
