Marondera University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (MUAST) hosted a successful winter crop training workshop on 23 May 2025 for farmers from Machiki, Muchekeranwa and Masomera. The event attracted an enthusiastic group of participants keen to improve their agricultural productivity and sustainability. The training focused on key winter crops such as wheat, peas and table potatoes. Farmers received hands-on guidance in soil analysis, selecting appropriate crop varieties, effective fertiliser use, and pest control techniques. The training was facilitated by MUAST experts who included Dr. L. Matsiwira, Mr. K. Mtondo, Dr. J. Chipomho and Mr. P. Majaya, who shared valuable insights into the foundational requirements for successful farming. They encouraged farmers to understand market dynamics, plan and budget wisely, target crops with export potential, maintain accurate farm records, and adopt efficient water management practices.
