Be Careful What You Call a "Result" ... Bishop Olusola Areogun Bishop Olusola Areogun once said, “Hagar gave birth to a son for Abraham, but that wasn’t the child of promise. Be careful what you call result.” That statement is weighty and deeply instructive. In a world obsessed with visible outcomes and quick wins, it’s easy to mistake movement for progress, and activity for accuracy. Hagar bore Ishmael, and on the surface, that looked like fruitfulness. A child was born. But heaven had a different perspective. That was not the promise. That was a product of impatience, a human attempt to fulfill a divine plan. The lesson? Not every “success” is from God. Not every result is the promise. Sometimes, what looks like breakthrough is a distraction. Sometimes, what we call achievement is actually a detour. Just because something works doesn't mean it's right. Just because it's producing doesn't mean it's aligned with divine timing or will. We must learn to weigh outcomes not just by results, but by *origin* was it birthed by faith or by flesh? Was it born in obedience or in haste? Was it a response to God’s instruction, or a reaction to internal pressure and external expectations? Ishmael was not a mistake but he was not the covenant. He came from human logic trying to help God. And that’s a danger zone for anyone who carries purpose: when delay makes you redefine promise by results you can control. So pause and ask yourself: Is this truly the child of promise? Or have I settled for what I could build instead of waiting for what God will birth? Be discerning. Be patient. Because in the kingdom, accuracy is more important than applause. https://selar.com/m/bidemi-emmanuel Bidemi Emmanuel
