There is a sweet tradition amongst some penguin species, like Adelie, Gentoo, and Chinstrap penguins, males will collect pebbles and present them to their mates as a way of proposing or strengthening their bond.
This behavior is often referred to as "pebble-gifting."
The male penguin will search for the perfect pebble, often choosing one that's smooth, round, and appealing.
He'll then present it to his mate, often with a ritualistic display of behavior, such as bowing, calling, or preening.
