Inspection of AMU Hostels Begins to Assess and Improve Residential Facilities and Cleaning of Rooftop
ALIGARH, June 10: The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has initiated a comprehensive inspection of its hostels to assess the residential conditions and identify areas requiring immediate repair and renovation. The inspection is being carried out under the leadership of the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. M. Mohsin Khan, with the objective of ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment for students.
The first leg of the inspection began today with visits to Aftab Hall and Nadeem Tarin Hall. Prof. Khan was accompanied by the Officiating Dean of Students’ Welfare, Prof. Shamshad Husain; Member in Charge of Building, Prof. Major Fareed Mahdi; University Engineer Prof. Izharul Haq Farooqi; Member in Charge of Public Relations, Prof. Vibha Sharma; and other senior university officials. Prof. Faiyazur Rahman, Provost of Aftab Hall, and Dr. Rashid Ali, Provost of Nadeem Tarin Hall, were present during the inspection.
During the inspection, the team thoroughly examined the rooftops and terraces of the hostels and interacted with the staff, urging them to undertake maintenance work and weeding out of wild plants. The university aims to undertake necessary repair work promptly through its Building Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. M. Mohsin Khan reiterated the university administration’s commitment to student welfare under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof Naima Khatoon. He said, “AMU is determined to take every necessary step to provide students with a better living and learning environment. The hostel inspections are a step in the direction of ensuring that students have access to well-maintained, safe, and hygienic residential spaces that support their academic journey.”
The inspections are scheduled to continue over the next ten days, covering all halls of residence across the campus. The initiative reflects the administration’s resolve to maintain high standards of campus infrastructure and enhance student well-being.
Provosts of the respective halls have been requested to be present with their teams during the visits to facilitate smooth inspections and provide input for improvements.
