_News_ | *Banker Antoun Sehnaoui sues journalists* *for criticizing his campaign against independent media*👇 Banker Antoun Sehnaoui filed a series of lawsuits against Daizy Gedeon, Diana Moukalled, Ralph Baydoun, as well as the media platforms Badil Media and Thawra TV, in response to a podcast episode that discussed the campaign launched by Sehnaoui and the banking lobby against independent media in Lebanon. In the new lawsuits, Sehnaoui repeated the same charges he used in his public campaign, such as “spreading false allegations to undermine financial confidence” and “publishing defamatory content that disrupts Lebanon's relations with a foreign state,” according to Daraj. Last April, the Cassation Public Prosecution’s Office in Beirut had summoned both Megaphone News and Daraj for an interrogation session based on a legal complaint filed by lawyers close to Sehnaoui. The complaint alleged that the platforms were "undermining the financial standing of the state,” as part of an effort by Sehnaoui and other bankers to dodge accountability for the theft of depositors' funds and their role in Lebanon’s economic collapse.
