Recently FirstLady Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa launched the 3-day inaugural Women's Market Galore which ran from 6th-8th June in Harare. This comes at the backdrop of another women empowerment programme she launched on Thursday 5 June which targeted female Police Officers.
The Market Galore will be replicated to the remaining 9 Provinces. It is an initiative that seeks to promote entrepreneurship among women. This will improve livelihoods and promote inclusivity; thus bringing constructive transformation to communities. Women in small-scale businesses showcased their products and services. The Galore afforded exhibitors opportunities to build marketshare and it creates room to exchange notes on how to run businesses successfully. She urged exhibitors not to peg prohibitive prices as this could slow down sales and hamper business growth.
Close to 200 exhibitors participated in this exhibition.
Among the products and services showcased are: gender based violence advice centre, small livestock, traditional foods, art and craft, sculpture, skin care and herbal products, landscaping flowers, fresh milk, crotchet items, bee farming, detergents, agribusiness and construction.
The First Lady also bought products from different exhibitors (who include women living with disabilities) like the 'small ladies' from Mbare who run a detergent business.
