*Complications of Arterial Line (Art Line):*
1. *Infection*
- Local or bloodstream infection due to poor aseptic technique.
2. *Thrombosis*
- Clot formation in the artery, possibly causing distal ischemia.
3. *Embolism*
- Air or clot emboli can obstruct distal blood flow.
4. *Hemorrhage*
- Accidental disconnection or dislodgement can lead to rapid blood loss.
5. *Arterial Spasm*
- Can reduce or cut off blood flow to the extremity.
6. *Ischemia/Necrosis*
- Prolonged or improper use may compromise distal circulation.
7. *Nerve Damage*
- Especially with femoral or brachial artery access.
8. *Accidental Intra-arterial Injection*
- Medications mistakenly injected into arterial line can cause severe tissue damage.
*Prevention:* Strict aseptic technique, proper catheter care, and regular monitoring of limb perfusion and waveform integrity.
