🚨 The Fall of Builder dot ai: A Wake-Up Call for Venture Capital & Corporate Governance
Another unicorn collapsed—$445M in funding, $1B valuation, 1,500+ jobs—gone. Builder dot ai’s implosion wasn’t just bad luck. It was inflated revenues, accounting gaps, and governance failures.
But here’s what frustrates me:
🔴 Why do we tie fraud to race?
Elizabeth Holmes (Theranos) – Stanford, white.
Sam Bankman-Fried (FTX) – MIT, Jewish.
Sachin Dev Duggal (Builder dot ai) – Indian origin.
Scammers exist everywhere. The problem isn’t ethnicity—it’s lack of accountability.
💡 Solution?
VCs must stop FOMO-driven bets and enforce:
✅ Mandatory whistleblower systems (like Aegis Whistle)
✅ Independent audits
✅ Real oversight
73% of fraud is caught by employees—yet most startups silence them. Time to change that.
