In a landmark move aimed at strengthening stakeholder engagement and enhancing transparency in Tanzania’s mineral sector, the Mining Commission has officially launched its Communication Strategy at the Singida Resident Mines Office. The event also featured an awareness session on the forthcoming Brand Manual, which will guide the Commission’s visual and editorial identity.
Presiding over the launch, Engineer Sabai Nyansiri, the Resident Mines Officer for Singida, commended the Public Relations and Communication Unit for developing a strategic document that provides clear direction for how the Commission communicates with both internal and external stakeholders.
“The Communication Strategy is a vital tool that will enable the Commission to inform the public more effectively, promote opportunities within the mining sector, and encourage broader participation of Tanzanians in mining activities,” said Eng. Nyansiri.
The Communication Strategy outlines key areas such as public outreach, media engagement, internal communication, crisis management, and stakeholder coordination. It is designed to support the Commission’s mission of managing the mining sector in a transparent, inclusive, and sustainable manner.
In addition to the strategy launch, participants were introduced to the structure and intent of the upcoming Brand Manual, which is currently under final review. Once released, the manual will offer standardized guidelines on the Commission’s visual identity—ensuring consistency across official documents, signage, publications, and digital platforms.
Speaking during the event, the Commission’s Communication and Public Relations Manager highlighted the importance of aligning communication efforts with the institution’s strategic goals.
“With the launch of this strategy and the upcoming Brand Manual, we are moving towards a more coordinated and professional approach in all our engagements. This will not only enhance public trust but also attract investment and build stronger partnerships within and beyond the mining sector,” the Manager said.
The Communication Strategy reflects the Commission’s broader efforts to improve governance in the mineral sector and raise public awareness about available opportunities, including mineral exploration, processing, trading, and provision of goods and services.
At a Glance:
• Vision: A hub for exploration and sustainable mining in Africa
• Mission: To manage the mining industry through supervision, monitoring, and regulation of exploration, mining, beneficiation, and mineral trade for sustainable development
• Strategic Goal: Promote effective communication, institutional branding, and stakeholder trust
The launch of the Communication Strategy is expected to serve as a model for other regions and agencies in ensuring clear, inclusive, and impactful communication across Tanzania’s extractive industries.
